This is the crew of Apollo 17. They were the last people to go to the moon and that is their Saturn V behind them. With the changes coming today, we say farewell to old Kinja, and wait to see what will happen next.

Just returned from Huntsville Rocket and Space Ctr with my son. Really cool place - (full scale?) Saturn V on display (horizontally). Great history, stories and - if you do the camp - you get behind-the-scenes peaks at simulations, etc.

Not to be super morbid, but I expect today to go off like the Challenger.

The Saturn V laying on its side at Huntsville is made up of test sections. They weren't built for flight but they are real production Saturn V parts. The one standing up is a replica

I thought that one was supposed to be for Apollo 18, but it was cancelled.

The Apollo 18 stages were split up. First stage is in Houston, second and third in Florida
